Tests of collored oxide

My tests of adding collored oxide to the blade.

My friend gave me the recipe to colorize metal using electro-chemistry. After getting necessary chemicals and lab-equipment, i could try it on my own. The effects are interesting (as you can see on the photos), but the technique itself is really a challenge, and takes much time to complete.

I wanted the knife to be in one single collor, but I was unable with my current experience. Blade is in rainbow collors, the left, and right side are different. I learned that the collor depends on many things such like: voltage, amperage, temperature of electrolyte, time, even distance beetwen anode and cathode.

The most durable colors are red and yellow, beacause only sand paper could defeat them. The weakest ones were the green, and blue.

It was an interesting challenge, but rather only for collectioners who look for something "exotic".
