The first forging of a bulat steel on a water hammer.
The Water Forge in Oliwa is the only such facility in Poland. There are two working water hammers inside, about 300 kg each. The history of this facility dates back to the 16th century. At that time, it was a forge where large steel elements were forged. Now, it is a beautifully renovated building with an exhibition of old, antique blacksmith tools. Thanks to Remigiusz Pacer I had the opportunity to forge a huge piece of bulat steel for the first time in my life. Remigiusz has been recreating the forgotten technology of bulat steel for years. He has had a huge number of successful smelting of this steel. The enormous weight of the hammer handled with the material very quickly. An amazing impression when the water moves such a massive beater.
